About JLT Maths

Hi, I’m Matthew Hake, a passionate and experienced maths tutor with over 30 years in education. My journey began as a PE teacher, but after a rugby injury, I pivoted to my second love—Maths. For the past 18 years, I’ve taught Maths, serving as a Head of Maths, Head of Year, Lead Practitioner, and Vice Principal.  

In July 2024, after decades of helping students achieve their goals, I launched JLT Math Tutoring to offer the personalised, high-quality education I believe every child deserves. By the end of my first month, I was fully booked—a testament to the demand for my student-centered approach.

Beyond tutoring, I work as a GCSE examiner, provide life coaching for young people, and hold additional qualifications in Leading Teacher Development and supporting children on the Autistic Spectrum.

I specialise in secondary education, including Key Stage 3, GCSE Foundation, and GCSE Higher. With an enhanced DBS, membership in The Tutors Association, and the flexibility to offer both online and in-person sessions, I’m committed to helping students thrive in Maths.
